Better late than never, here’s the recording of our pre-concert talk from our 4 June concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. For this talk we were joined by Sarah Bardwell, director of the Handel House Museum, who talked about Handel, and musical life in London during his time.

Here’s the latest in our series of pre-concert talks which we’re making available as podcasts. In this talk from our Baroque. Contrasted. Festival, Tom Irvine, a music historian from the University of Southampton, talks about Bach’s Double Violin Concerto and Purcell’s Fairy Queen.

Here’s the lastest podcast of our OAE Extras pre-concert events. In this one, from our From a Dream to revolution concert back in February, broadcaster Rob Cowan talks to conductor David Zinman about his career, life and recordings.

Back in January before our Mahler/Wagner/Liszt Symphonic Enlightenment concert at the RFH, Robert Philip gave a pre-concert talk discussing what impact the onset of the ‘recording era’ in the early 20th century had in helping us to understand what Mahler’s sound-world might have been like.   Take a listen:
